Frequently asked questions

1. What is 'Health Check-up' program?
This is a program designed to allow any foreign residents living in Nagano prefecture to have their health checked at participating hospitals. The purpose is for foreign residents to live a healthy and comfortable life in Japan.

2. Who can attend?
Any foreign resident living in Nagano prefecture can attend. Even if you are living in Nagano temporarily, you can attend.

3. How much does it cost?
Over 15 years old costs 1500yen. Children under 15 are free. Normally, this type of check-up costs over 10,000yen, so it's a good bargain!

4. What do we need to bring?
Basically 1500 yen if over 15 years old and nothing else. Health insurance, I.D., passport, etc are NOT necessary.

5. What are checked?
Height, weight, blood pressure, blood test (option), X-ray (option), dental matters, etc. Optional items are also free. After the test results, doctors are available for consultation. Pediatricians, general physicians, dental hygienists, nutritionists are all available.

6. I cannot speak Japanese but I want to attend.
Don't worry, we will have translators in several languages and doctors can speak some English. We will appoint a volunteer escort to all participants, so it won't be a problem.

7. How long will it take?
With all the tests, including blood test and X-ray, it will take about 2 hours.

8. Is registration or appointment necessary?
No. You can come anytime between 12pm and 2pm on that day.

9. I don't have a car or don't know how to get to the hospital.
Don't worry again. We have a shuttle service this year (2005), but you will need to call and register for pick-up at least one week before the event. Call: 090-6791-5194.

10. Can I get the medical records?
Yes, you can have the records to take home and can use it as a reference in the future.
